Doug Metcalf

Doug is probably best recognized by his voice than by appearance due to his being the “voice of the Lynx” at football games and track and field meets from 1973 to 2002.  During that 29-year span, he announced every home football game and every State Track Meet at Brandon Valley.

He was the originator of the Brandon Valley Athletic Hall of Fame and implemented the concept to fruition in 1984, while also serving on the committee for five years.  Furthermore, he helped to organize the Athletic Booster Club and served as a member for six years.

Doug’s service in design and construction proved to be valuable to Brandon Valley Athletics as well.  He was on the design committee for the football and track stadium complex and designed and managed the construction of the press box where he announced.

All five of his children are BVHS graduates.  They, and all BV students, have benefitted greatly from his expertise and generosity.
